At approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 23, 2025, Chief David Haverdink responded to a medical call at a residence. As he was preparing to leave the scene one hour later, Chief Haverdink was struck by a vehicle. His colleagues immediately began emergency care, and Chief Haverdink was transported to a hospital. Chief Haverdink succumbed to his injuries at the hospital two days later on December 25, 2025.
