On September 21, 2025, Firefighter Keith Kostuk responded to a motor vehicle accident. While on scene, Firefighter Kostuck descended a 20 to 30-foot embankment with a chainsaw to remove trees and gain access to the vehicle to verify that all occupants had been evacuated. After completing the task, he climbed back up the embankment and returned the saw to service. Later that evening, Firefighter Kostuck began experiencing chest discomfort. EMS was called to his home, where he experienced a cardiovascular event. Firefighter Kostuck was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
