At approximately 5:30 a.m. on December 31, 2025, Fire Apparatus Engineer Daniel "Danny" Cook along with other units from CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire. While on scene, Engineer Cook suffered a medical emergency. A mayday was called, and emergency care was immediately provided. Engineer Cook was transported to the hospital. Despite efforts from medical professionals, he was pronounced deceased later that morning.
