Fire Chief Charles "Charlie" Woodard was directing traffic outside the Mabank Rodeo grounds. As he stepped into the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 175, Fire Chief Woodard was hit by a pickup truck. Fire Chief Woodard was treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Investigation into the incident continues.
