At approximately 8:05 p.m., Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr. responded with the Boston Fire Department to a residential structure fire that quickly went to three alarms. After arriving on scene, firefighters quickly extinguished much of the fire and kept it from spreading to neighboring houses.
A short time later, a mayday was declared after Firefighter Kilduff fell from a rear porch on the third floor. Fellow firefighters located Firefighter Kilduff and, along with emergency medical personnel, treated him at the scene. Firefighter Kilduff was then transported to a local hospital where, despite all efforts, he passed away from the injuries he sustained in the fall. Firefighter Kilduff was a third generation Boston firefighter.
