On December 19, family, friends, and coworkers attended a ceremony in City Council Chambers when the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire promoted six individuals. Michael Rall, Bryan Krause, Jeffrey Lang, and Nicklas Gerstel all received lieutenant promotions. Brian Matts and Thomas Bartholomew, both lieutenants, were elevated to captain.

Chief of Fire Darryl Jones spoke to the promotees, praising thcvcceir commitment and professionalism and highlighting their position as the bureau's community ambassadors. The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety's Director, Lee Schmidt, acknowledged the promotees' dedication to leadership and service. Ed Gainey thanked the members for their ongoing support of the City of Pittsburgh before the Oath of Office.
