Tobyhanna Township — December 7 — Throughout the evening, Tobyhanna Township Volunteer Fire Company members responded to three service requests in various township locations. Command 41, 41-Rescue-2, and 41-Utility-2 were sent to a pole, and a wire fire on Route 940 close to Vesper Point Road in Lake Naomi about 6:00 p.m. Crews found the impacted power pole, set up traffic control, and worked with PP&L. Before the utility company came, members stayed on the site for around forty-five minutes.
In response to a QRS medical call for a hemorrhage in the Tunkhannock Trails area of Tunkhannock Township at 7:40 p.m., 41-Utility-2 sent two EMTs to assist Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Company Station 42 and Station 11 of Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services with patient evaluation and extrication. Station 41 responded to a reported chimney fire in Indian Mountain Lakes at 8:40 p.m. by helping Station 42. While other members in Blakeslee and Pocono Pines stood by, 41-Utility-2 reacted to the earlier incident. The house was safe and the fire had been put out, according to the crews. Lehigh Valley EMS Station 8 and Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 also responded. The department noted continued interest in recruiting community members, with training provided and multiple membership opportunities available.
