Fairfield, New Jersey — December 10 — Units from the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, Essex County, 51 Plymouth Street, Fairfield, New Jersey, were sent to Route 80 on December 10 in response to a vehicle fire that was reported. When Rescue 3 and Engine 2 arrived, they discovered a single totally involved vehicle with all of its occupants safely outside. In order to minimize damage to the car, firefighters swiftly put out the fire by deploying a handline. After that, crews performed an overhaul and examined the surrounding region to make sure it didn't extend into adjacent wooded areas. While suppression and cleanup efforts were being carried on, law enforcement helped with traffic control. Neither responders nor civilians reported any injuries. Units resumed operations after verifying the site was safe and secure, and the event was stabilized without any more issues.
