Cape May Firefighters Train on Trauma Care and Helicopter Safety

Cape May, NJ — December 1 — A training session on trauma rules and helicopter landing zone safety was attended by members of the Department Cape May Firefighters, situated at 712 Franklin St. The Cooper Trauma, Aeromedical, and EMS Outreach team offered the program, which was hosted by the US Coast Guard Fire Department.


The training covered safe landing zone setup for helicopter operations, scene coordination, and current trauma care requirements. Instructors covered best practices for patient transfers, hazard control, and communication between ground units and air medical crews. Members were given a guided tour of the Cooper 1 aircraft as part of the program. The crew discussed response requirements and aircraft operations. During emergency situations, training exercises such as this improve collaboration between fire, EMS, and aeromedical partners.
