Clarksville VFC was dispatched by Allegany County 911 at approximately 4:30am on December 26th to a one car roll over with three patients. One of the victims was reported to have serious injuries. Within minutes, CVFC Chiefs 50, 501, 502, Engine 1, Utility 4, and Ambulance 8 hit the snow covered roads. CL-50 requested Cuba respond with two ambulances, due to the number of reported patients.
Once on location, units found the car on its right side, 40 foot off the road, and 25 feet down a near vertical embankment. Upon inspection of the vehicle by firefighters, the vehicle was marked all clear of patients. Crews went to work securing the vehicle and controlling hazards.
Due to the vehicle location and situation, Portville Truck was requested for a heavy wrecker to recover the vehicle and a roll back to transport the car. Ambulance crews assessed, packaged, and transported the patients to OGH for observation.
Clarksville Town Highway was requested to plow and sand the road before the recovery units arrived due to the slick snow on the rural roadway. Once Portville Truck was on scene, their crew rigged and recovered the vehicle making it look rather “easy” with their advanced equipment and skills. CVFC crews double checked the scene after the car was removed to assure all was clear and safe.
