Fire crews from Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and surrounding departments responded to a residential structure fire on Pond Hill Mountain Road in Conyngham Township on November 29, 2025. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active working fire on the second floor of the residence. Crews made an aggressive interior attack, quickly bringing the fire under control before it could extend further through the home. Following knockdown, firefighters conducted extensive checks for fire extension and completed overhaul operations to ensure all remaining hot spots were eliminated. All occupants and animals were safely evacuated without injury, and the American Red Cross was notified to assist residents displaced by the incident. Mocanaqua and Pond Hill units were supported on scene by Hobbie, Slocum, Nescopeck Township, Reliance Fire Company, Hanover Township RIT, Nanticoke Engine, Pond Hill EMS, and Medic 95.
