Overnight Attic Fire on Rutter Avenue Draws Multi-Agency Response in Kingston and Forty Fort
December 22, 2025 — Overnight, crews from the Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department were managing an active gas leak incident involving Medic 13, Engine 1, Engine 4, and Tower 1 when they were dispatched to a reported possible structure fire. While initial operations continued at the gas leak, additional fire companies from Wilkes-Barre, Shavertown, and Edwardsville were dispatched to cover the response.
As some Kingston Forty Fort units cleared from the gas leak scene, they responded to Rutter Avenue, where Assistant Chief 2 confirmed an active attic fire upon arrival. Due to the conditions encountered, additional resources were requested, and firefighters went to work containing and extinguishing the blaze. Fire suppression operations continued for several hours, with the scene remaining active until approximately 3:00 a.m.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced residents. Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department extended special thanks to Wilkes-Barre City Firefighters, Edwardsville, Shavertown, Swoyersville, Hanover Township, Trans Med Ambulance, and Wyoming Fire Department for their assistance and coordinated response during the early morning hours.
