Marshalls Creek Fire Company EMS staff sent extra winter safety reminders in addition to its winter generator safety messaging with the goal of lowering avoidable injuries during the colder months. Rushing increases the chance of collisions and injuries, EMS officials advised locals to slow down and give themselves more time when traveling in icy conditions. Instead of waiting for a large accumulation of snow, which can seriously strain the cardiovascular system, householders are encouraged to shovel little quantities more frequently.
Responders advised individuals to be mindful of their surroundings when skiing or snowboarding in order to prevent collisions with other persons or items that could cause catastrophic injuries. Small safety-conscious choices made in the winter can help prevent residents from using the emergency system and lower the number of seasonal trauma calls, the department stressed.
