This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, the Forestport Fire Department responded to a report of a possible chimney fire at a residence on White Lake Road.

New York State Police arrived first on scene and reported that no smoke or flames were visible from the structure. Initial dispatch tones alerted the Forestport Fire Department, along with mutual aid departments from Woodgate, White Lake, Stittville, Remsen, and Oneida County Emergency Services.

Forestport Car 1 arrived shortly thereafter and requested that all mutual aid units remain on standby at their respective stations, while Forestport units continued to respond under Code 2 conditions.

Response times were impacted by heavy snowfall in the area and unplowed roadways.

Upon arrival, fire crews conducted a thorough evaluation using a thermal imaging camera. The investigation determined the incident to be unfounded, with the chimney showing normal signs of use and no evidence of fire or hazardous conditions.

All units returned to service within the hour.
