The Philadelphia Fire Department is encouraging people to prioritize safety while making present purchases as residents wrap up their last-minute holiday shopping. Fire officials advise consumers to confirm that products powered by lithium-ion batteries are appropriately approved and adhere to established safety regulations. Toys, electronics, equipment, and personal gadgets frequently contain lithium-ion batteries. These batteries may be a fire hazard if they are broken, manufactured incorrectly, or lack certification. It is recommended that residents check for certification marks from reputable testing facilities and adhere to the charging and storage guidelines provided by the manufacturer.
