OCALA, FL - On Thursday, December 21, 2023, Ocala Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire at Shadow Oaks Mobile Home Park, 3230 SE 10th Ave., at 7:20 P.M. Engines 2, 3 and 7, Tower 1, Rescue 3, a Safety Officer, and Battalion Chiefs 11 and 22 responded.

While pulling out of the fire station, Engine 7 could see heavy fire through the woods.

Upon arrival, Engine 7 found a single-story, single-wide trailer engulfed in flames. Engine 7 assumed Shadow Oaks' command and assessed the scene, noting a vehicle parked near the mobile home being affected by the heat.

Engine 7 began attacking the fire from the exterior to prevent the flames from spreading to the vehicle exposed to the heat. With the exposure cooled, Engine 7 focused on extinguishing the fire.

Command was transferred to Battalion Chief 22.

Engine 3 was assigned to fire suppression, adding a secondary hose line to the fire attack. Engine 2 established a water supply and replenished the tanks of Engines 7 and 3. Tower 1 assisted with fire suppression and checking for fire extension after the flames were knocked down.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. No injuries were reported. The Ocala Police Department, Marion County Fire Rescue, and Ocala Utilities also responded.
