Working Structure Fire on Leonard Ave. in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY - Good Will FD responded to a reported structure fire on the early morning of December 24, 2023. Units arrived and found heavy fire in attic area. A second-alarm was transmitted, bringing Newburgh FD as the FAST, Winona Lake FD's Ladder, and Air National Guard FD's Engine to the scene. Firefighters used hand lines and tools and made searches of the residence to confirm that everyone was out. Three lines were stretched and working on extinguishing the fire. Town of Newburgh EMS and Police were at the scene. Central Hudson was called for a power cut. Deputy Orange County Fire Coordinator 36-13 was also at the scene. At the 50-minute status check, the fire was under control and firefighters were hitting hot spots. The Town of Newburgh Fire Inspector's office was requested to the scene as mutual aid units returned back to quarters. New Windsor and Middle Hope FDs stood by in Good Will quarters during the incident. The fire investigation was turned over to the Town Fire Inspector's Office.
