Mastic Firefighters Fight Car Fire In Icey Parkinglot

Mastic NY- On December 20th at about 10:32 AM Mastic FD responded to a reported vehicle fire at Island Cinemas. LT. Rudy Sunderman [5-12-70] arrived on scene first and advised Assistant Chief Martucci [5-12-31] he had a fire in the engine compartment. Assistant Chief Martucci confirmed he was enroute and advised 70 he would be in command until the chief arrived.

Engine 3 and Rescue 10 were dispatched to the scene. As Chief Martucci was arriving he took command and firefighters pulled a booster line from Engine 3 to knock the fire in the Engine compartment of the vehicle that was parked in the iced over parking lot. Firefighters were able to get a quick knock preventing it from spreading to the rest of the vehicle. All units were back in service in about 40 Minutes.
