November 24, 2025 — Rock Hill firefighters responded early this morning to a single-vehicle accident in which a car left the roadway and came to rest on top of an underground electric utility transformer box.

Firefighters found the driver safely out of the vehicle and uninjured upon arrival. Crews secured the scene and worked with utility partners to address the electrical hazard created by the vehicle’s position.

Department officials noted that incidents involving electrical infrastructure can be extremely dangerous, even when power lines are not visible. Firefighters reminded the public that if a crash involves contact with electrical equipment, occupants should remain inside the vehicle if it is safe to do so and immediately call 911, as stepping onto energized ground can pose serious risks.

The Rock Hill Fire Department expressed appreciation for the quick response by crews and utility personnel and was grateful for the positive outcome. Residents were urged to stay alert, drive carefully, and remain mindful of electrical hazards.
