December 14, 2025 — Copiague Fire Department, As winter conditions continue to affect Long Island, the Copiague Fire Department is reminding residents to slow down, stay alert, and put safety first when traveling and clearing snow. In coordination with Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, officials emphasized that snow and ice can quickly create hazardous conditions on roadways, increasing the risk of vehicle crashes and injuries.
Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time, maintain greater following distances, and remain informed as weather conditions evolve. The department also highlighted the physical risks associated with snow removal, urging residents to shovel smart by dressing warmly, pacing themselves, staying hydrated, and taking frequent breaks to avoid overexertion in cold temperatures.
