Bayport Fire Department Takes Part in Large-Scale Multiagency Mass Casualty Drill in Sayville

November 1, 2025 | The Bayport Fire Department Water Rescue Team and Fire Police members participated in a large-scale, multiagency mass casualty drill held in Sayville on Saturday morning, testing coordinated emergency response across jurisdictions. The exercise, hosted by Community Ambulance Company and the Sayville Fire Department, involved more than 28 federal, state, county, and local agencies and focused on complex rescue and command operations. Bayport personnel conducted four surface water rescues during the drill, with rescues performed by Lucas Becher and Shane Leuly and supported by tenders Zach Becher, Gianni DeRosa, and Tom Fitzpatrick. Team leaders Andy Becher and Lieutenant Barry Lipsky operated alongside Captain Jason Feinberg and reported to Assistant Chiefs Brandon DeMulder and Bob Dasch throughout the incident. In addition, Bayport Fire Police members provided traffic control and scene safety, ensuring smooth and secure operations for all responding agencies. Officials praised the drill as a valuable opportunity to strengthen interagency coordination and readiness for real-world emergencies.
