The Stratford Fire Department advises locals to exercise cautious when it becomes really cold. Wearing multiple loose layers improves insulation and aids in body heat retention. When outdoors, residents should wear waterproof, insulated boots and protect their hands, feet, ears, and face. Additionally, since the head can lose a lot of body heat, a hat is advised. The Stratford Fire Department advises everyone to take precautions to be warm and safe during the winter and to prevent exposure to extremely cold temperatures.
