Bristol, R.I. — December 15 —Residents are reminded by the Bristol Fire Department that dogs may be in danger during house fires and are urged to take easy precautions to keep them safe. Stoves, candles, lights, fireplaces, and space heaters should all be avoided by pets. It is advised to keep pets three feet away from heat sources.
In addition to making sure that functional smoke alarms are put on each floor of the house and inspected once a month, residents are encouraged to use flameless candles wherever feasible. Never bring pets back inside in the event of a fire, and alert firefighters right once if any animals are present.
