East Putnam, Conn. — November 19 — Firemen from Thompson Hill and East Thompson participated in collaborative training with the East Putnam Fire Department at an acquired home on Quaddick Road, close to the intersection of Hill Road and Quaddick Road. The building, which was slated for demolition, offered a controlled environment for practical operations.

Intercompany communications, ventilation coordination, internal movement, hose line progress, and search procedures were all practiced by the crews. Accountability, size-up, and safe work procedures in line with recognized training standards were emphasized. Firefighters can encounter actual layouts, building elements, and operational issues that are not available in classes thanks to acquired structural training. The exercise enhanced operational preparedness for upcoming occurrences throughout East Putnam and Thompson and strengthened coordination between adjacent departments.
