Sussex, NJ — November 22 — Members of Sussex Fire & EMS helped prepare the Wantage School Christmas tree for the Wantage Recreation Annual Christmas Tree Lighting after several weekends of preparation. After replacing bulbs and fixing broken wiring, workers restrung the tree's lights in the chilly morning weather. Prior to the community gathering, the team made sure the lighting system was running safely and correctly. Before the lighting ceremony, fire officials saw that the project needed many visits to fix electrical problems and make last-minute alterations. Beyond emergency response, the department's responsibility continues to include helping with seasonal community activities. The finished project made it possible for the tree to be illuminated for residents, families, and students who attend the yearly holiday event.
