Hardyston Township, NJ — November 23rd — Members of the Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Department participated in a training class focused on lithium-ion battery fires and recommended suppression tactics. The rising incidence of battery-related mishaps involving cars, power tools, and common consumer electronics was discussed in class.
Battery construction, thermal runaway warning indicators, and safe reaction techniques like cooling, isolation, and prolonged monitoring were all covered in the instruction. Firefighter safety, scene control, and the possibility of re-ignition following first knockdown were highlighted. To support best practices, recent case studies and national fire service guidelines were examined.
