The Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Company responded to a brush fire in the wooded area behind Martinsville Gardens as part of a massive multi-agency operation. For over four hours, Martinsville Fire managed to contain the fire with the help of many mutual-aid agencies.

Because of the topography and the spread of the fire, the situation required a great deal of coordination. The fire was deemed under control and turned over to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service following persistent suppression operations.

Martinsville Fire also responded to numerous other incidents over the same operational period, and Green Knoll VOP collaborated with agencies from Somerset and neighboring counties. Responders were reminded to keep clear of the area and yield to emergency apparatus throughout the incident.
