December 3, 2025 | Akron Volunteer Fire Company 12 — At approximately 10:24 p.m. Tuesday evening, Akron Volunteer Fire Company and mutual aid partners were dispatched to the first block of Knollwood Drive for a reported fire at a single-family residence. Chief 12 arrived to find an “outside-in” fire that originated at the home’s propane line. The occupants were alerted by working smoke detectors and safely discovered the fire before it spread further. Fire crews operated on scene for about an hour, opening up burned exterior areas, checking for hot spots, and providing ventilation. No injuries were reported. Fire officials emphasized the importance of working smoke detectors and regular testing, crediting them with early notification in this incident. Akron Fire Company was assisted by Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company, Lincoln Fire Company Station 16, West Earl Fire Station 29, and Ephrata Community Ambulance Association.
