November 16, 2025 | Akron Volunteer Fire Company 12 — At approximately 2:23 p.m., Engine 12 was dispatched for a standby transfer to Bareville Fire Company (Station 31) as crews worked a two-alarm barn fire on Peters Road in Upper Leacock Township. While on standby, Engine 12 was redirected to a reported brush fire in the 300 block of Newport Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a small section of field already burned and partially contained by the property owner’s family. Engine 12 advanced a handline and quickly extinguished the remaining fire. Assistance was provided by Pumper/Tanker 62 (Witmer Fire Protective Association), Tanker 41 (Hand in Hand), and Engine 302 (Weaverland Valley). Units were in service for approximately 44 minutes before Engine 12 returned to Station 31 until Bareville’s units cleared the barn fire.
