December 2, 2025 — The Valley Township Fire Department responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 at mile marker 218, involving tractor trailers, box trucks, and passenger vehicles.
Upon arrival, crews found multiple vehicles involved and immediately began coordinated rescue operations. Firefighters removed both doors from a tractor trailer to gain access to an injured occupant and assisted with patient packaging, while hazard mitigation was conducted simultaneously to address fuel and roadway safety concerns.
The initial dispatch reported a jackknifed tractor trailer closer to the county line. Due to traffic congestion preventing Station 90 units from reaching that location, Station 100 and UC 17 handled that separate incident. Additional reports of crashes behind the primary scene prompted Station 60 to investigate further; however, no additional accidents were located.
Officials advised that the roadway would remain closed for an undetermined period while damaged vehicles were removed and debris cleared, urging motorists to seek alternate routes and use caution in the area.
