December 12, 2025 — Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company, serving Upper Providence Township in Montgomery County, reminded residents that dry Christmas trees can become a serious fire hazard if not properly maintained during the holiday season.

Fire officials encouraged the public to take a few simple preventive steps to reduce fire risk, including watering trees daily, keeping trees away from heat sources, avoiding overloaded extension cords, and placing trees clear of exits to maintain safe escape paths.

Department leaders emphasized that a little prevention can go a long way in protecting homes and families, urging everyone to remain vigilant and practice fire safety throughout the holidays.
