December 8, 2025 — The Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company reported another exceptionally busy month in November 2025, highlighting the dedication and hard work of its volunteers while also taking time to celebrate major milestones and accomplishments.
On November 8, 2025, members gathered to commemorate the fire company’s 110th Anniversary. Since 1915, Barren Hill’s volunteers have proudly served their community, neighbors, and friends throughout Whitemarsh Township.
During the anniversary banquet, Firefighter Jon Walker was recognized as Firefighter of the Year, an honor selected by company officers in recognition of his dedication, service, and commitment to the fire service and the township. Assistant Chief Scott Yoder was named Member of the Year, chosen by his peers for his leadership, commitment to training, and efforts to uphold professional standards within the company. The department congratulated both members on their well-deserved recognitions.
Looking ahead, the fire company reminded residents of several upcoming community events. The Annual Hanukkah Parade with the Chabad of Lafayette Hill is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, departing from the Barren Hill Fire Company at 5:30 p.m. Additionally, Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with a new start time of 10:00 a.m., including designated stops where Santa will hand out candy canes.
