On the evening of December 2, 2025, members of the Refton Fire Company participated in hands-on training focused on chimney fires, an important topic as winter weather and home heating use increase. The training exercise was designed to refresh operational procedures while providing junior firefighters with practical experience simulating a real chimney fire response. Crews operated a scenario involving a wood stove inside a small barn, working together to complete a chimney sweep and reinforce coordinated fireground operations. The Refton Fire Company was joined by Strasburg Fire Company No. 1 for the training, and officials expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort, noting the value of joint training in maintaining readiness and strengthening inter-department cooperation.
