CHESTERFIELD,VA-The deep darkness of night and a narrow two lane bridge passing over a train track, set the stage for an extensive extrication when two vehicles collided in a violent head-on crash on the bridge, in the 3100 block of Dundas Road, on Dec. 13.
Tones dropped at 5:56 p.m.
Responding were Engine 203, Truck 203, Medics 211, 215 and 202, SA 201, Battalion Chief 201 and county police.
Underneath the bridge were train tracks, on one side down a hill was an apartment complex and on the other side an elementary school yard.
On the bridge one vehicle was on it's side with heavy damage.
Two people were trapped in the overturned vehicle and crews went quickly to work.
"Multiple extrication tools were used for the extended extrication," said Chesterfield Fire and EMS Battalion Chief Charles Knowles. "Three people were transported to a hospital."
The crash is under investigation.
