With great sorrow, the Hackettstown Fire Department announced the passing of former chief David Tynan Sr., a veteran employee whose presence and service had a profound effect on the department. After joining the fire department in 1976 and rising to the position of Chief in 1997, Dave led the division with steadfast leadership and commitment.
In addition, he was a well-liked chief driver who was renowned for his driving prowess, particularly while using the department's outdated Engine 31, a rig he really enjoyed. Dave had a reputation as the department's king of roast beef during numerous firehouse meals and functions, and he was well-known among members for his culinary prowess even outside of his tenure on the fireground.
The department extended its condolences to the Tynan family, noting that Dave will be deeply missed by all who served alongside him. His years of service, humor, and friendship will remain part of the Hackettstown Fire Department’s history.
Rest easy, Dave.
