MIDDLEHOPE, NY - Middlehope FD responded to a reported chimney fire at 3 Tower Road on December 11, 2023. Units requested a first-alarm dispatched to the scene. Cronomer Valley Car 3 arrived and radioed in that smoke was showing from the chimney. Cronomer Valley FD responded with a ladder, Good Will FD responded with an engine, and Middlehope FD responded with their ladder. Firefighters stretched a hand line to the front door, while other members used a ground ladder to get to the roof area. Firefighters checked the basement area for extension and disconnected an LP gas tank that was near the chimney. Firefighters used a chimney chain to clear the chimney and filled a bucket on the roof with debris from the chimney. They then took a pipe apart that was clogged. After cleaning was complete, the residence was turned over to the homeowner.
