Newton, NH — November 22 — A portion of the Saturday day shift at the Newton Fire Department, located at 8D Merrimac Road, was devoted to the necessary pump training. Firefighters practiced generating a consistent water supply, controlling pressure, and verifying equipment performance as they set up and ran the engine's pumping system. During fire attacks, pump operations are crucial, particularly in places where extensive hose lays are required or where hydrant supplies may be scarce. Crews are kept comfortable with the equipment and prepared for any response through regular practice. These meetings are routinely scheduled by the department to help members stay up to date on protocols and adapt to changing circumstances. The training contributes to the overarching objective of maintaining dependable, safe, and effective emergency response for the community and mutual-aid partners.
