Providence, RI — December 2 —In order to handle the increasing number of EMS calls in the city, the Providence Fire Department has deployed two more rescue units. The first new ambulances to be brought to the department in over a decade are Rescue 8 and Rescue 9.

It is anticipated that the new units will enhance coverage and response times during times of high demand. Expanded EMS capabilities is a top goal for public safety planning in Providence because to the ongoing increase in medical calls.
