One Person Extricated from Richland Twp. MVA

RICHLAND TWP., PA - At approximately 6:50 P.M. on December 1st, West End Fire Co. Squirt 18 and EMS were dispatched to S West End Blvd. and Tollgate Road in Richland Township for an auto accident.

Deputy 87 arrived to find a three-vehicle MVA with one person entrapped and requested the upgrade to the rescue assignment. Rescue 18 and Quakertown Fire Co. Engine 17 were en route shortly after the rescue assignment were dispatched.

Rescue 18 arrived and crews immediately went into service with removing the passenger doors of the SUV with the trapped subject. Upon Engine 17's arrival, crews assisted with extrication and pulled a dry line up to the scene. Chemical 17 took a blocking position south of the scene and manpower began with cleanup of a large amount of debris and fluids down.

Additional EMS was dispatched to assist with multiple patients. Firefighters removed both passenger side doors and the 'B' post to access the patient. Extrication was complete at 7:04 P.M., and the patient was transferred to the care of EMS. Several mutual aid companies were dispatched for fire police to assist with traffic control, and a third EMS unit was requested to the scene. Fire crews cleared the scene within the hour.
