Gordon Heights N.Y.- At about 2:20PM Gordon Heights fire department activated for a report of a residential structure fire on Cedar ln off Barba Lane. Dispatch took a report from a member of service that passed the area on the way to the firehouse reporting heavy black smoke coming from a home. On arrival EMS and the assistant chief advised that they had heavy smoke conditions in the basement and the house was evacuated. Engine 3 responded into the scene first due and hit the hydrant charging 1 line which was put in operation. Rescue 8 also responded into the scene and vented the home. No extension was reported. The Job was placed under control around 3 PM with companies remaining on time for a short time to finish venting and the fire marshal was requested.
