Area Firefighters Complete Basic Wildland Training in Penobscot

Penobscot, ME — November 15 — On Saturday, firefighters from all over Hancock County convened in Penobscot for an eight-hour session on Basic Wildland Fire. The training was attended by members from Penobscot, Blue Hill, Brooklin, Castine, Orland, Surry, and Stonington to improve their ability to handle situations involving brush, woods, and interfaces. Hayden Daigle of the Maine Forest Service led the training, covering topics such as equipment use particular to wildland operations, safety protocols, line construction, and fire behavior.
