Ashaway, RI — November 28 —Just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Ashaway Volunteer Fire Association responded to a residence fire on Main Street. Car 404 arrived within minutes to establish command after smoke was observed pouring from the roof. When fire was discovered through the ceiling, a first alarm was set off. Before firefighters arrived, the resident had left the house.

A second hose line moved to the back, and crews set up an inch-and-three-quarter line through the front door to the fire floor. Hope Valley's Ladder 911 was set up for roof ventilation. Mutual-aid agencies supported water supply, rapid intervention, station coverage, and rehab operation. Units remained on scene until 9:30 p.m. to check for hotspots and extension. Officials thank all assisting partners for their support.
