Black Helmets Awarded After Firefighter I Completion

Georgetown, CT — November 4 — At a ceremony Wednesday night, Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company honored former leadership and praised new firefighters. After earning their Firefighter I qualification and beginning their operational duty with the organization, two members, Vince and Demetrios, were given their black helmets.

In addition, Chief Don Baker gave former Chief Mike Heibeck his original chief's helmet as a token of appreciation for his many years of devoted community service. The agency stated that long-term dedication and training successes are crucial to sustaining preparedness and helping the citizens they serve.
