Berlin, NH — November 1 — Carbon Monoxide Awareness Month, which takes place in November, emphasizes the significance of avoiding exposure to this odorless, colorless gas. Berlin IAFF Local 1088's Professional Firefighters advise locals that fuel-burning appliances, heating systems, generators, and cars operating in garages or close to residences can all produce carbon monoxide. The best early warning system is a functional CO alarm. Firefighters advise installing alarms on each floor of the house, testing them once a month, and replacing them in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. The chance of hazardous accumulation can be decreased by yearly chimney and furnace inspections. Responders urge the community to remain vigilant and shield family and guests from CO exposure as temperatures drop and heating systems work harder.
