NORTH WALPOLE, NH — November 1 — Supporting both community events and emergency operations, North Walpole Fire & Rescue reported a busy period. Members helped ensure that families and children had a safe Halloween parade at North Walpole School. Then, during neighbourhood trick-or-treating, firefighters went back to the station to distribute candies. Engine 2 was sent to help Charlestown units with a reported kitchen fire while they were getting ready to participate in the Whelen Trunk or Treat event. Engine 1 stayed in town to cover the station. Engine 2 returned to the scheduled neighbourhood outreach and carried on distributing candies after clearing the call. Serving the public, according to the agency, entails active community involvement while always being prepared to act.
