GILSUM, NH — November 11 — On Veterans Day, Gilsum Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad honored those who have served in the US military. The agency observed that a large number of EMTs and firefighters are veterans, who contribute leadership and useful expertise to emergency services. Veterans Day, which has been celebrated since 1919, serves as a reminder to communities of the commitment and sacrifice given to defend the nation. Residents were urged by department members to recognize service people for their ongoing contributions both domestically and internationally. The day also offered an opportunity to consider the relationship between military service and public safety positions, where preparedness and cooperation are still crucial. The department expressed gratitude to all veterans for their dedication to maintaining community safety.
