November 3, 2025 — At 9:10 p.m. on Monday, the Gretna Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to a reported major structure fire with possible entrapment. Responding personnel arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
The incident prompted a joint mutual aid response from the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department and the City of Quincy, with crews working together to bring the fire under control. Despite the coordinated efforts of all agencies on scene, the homeowner succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident.
Gretna Fire Rescue extended its condolences, stating that their thoughts and prayers remain with the family during this difficult time.
