November 15, 2025 — The City of Cocoa and Brightline conducted a scheduled safety exercise along U.S. 1 in Cocoa on Saturday as part of federally required emergency preparedness training. The Cocoa Beach Fire Department advised residents that the drill simulated an emergency incident and included volunteer actors with mock injuries to create realistic training conditions.

The exercise, held in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration requirements, was designed to help Brightline personnel and City of Cocoa Fire Rescue practice coordinated response procedures in a controlled and safe environment.

Residents were reminded not to be alarmed by the activity, as all operations were part of the planned training scenario. The Cocoa Beach Fire Department emphasized that these exercises play a vital role in improving readiness and ensuring the safety of the community.
