October 17, 2025 — Alachua County Fire Rescue reported that at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, units from ACFR, Lacrosse Fire Rescue, and the Florida Department of Forestry responded to a large brush fire near County Roads 241 and 236, north of Alachua. Upon arrival, firefighters found roughly five acres burning in an area that was difficult to access.

According to the department, containment was achieved in just under three hours with the assistance of three bulldozers from the Department of Forestry, which helped establish fire lines and secure the perimeter.
