Falmouth, MA — October 31 — Falmouth Fire/Rescue participated in a multi-agency oil spill drill organized by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The training included classroom teaching with hands-on experience using boats and boom deployment equipment designed to mitigate fuel leaks in nearby waterways. The exercise, held in Woods Hole, aimed to improve water-based coordination amid environmental emergencies.
The simulation was attended by members of Falmouth Marine and Environmental Services, the United States Coast Guard, Mashpee Fire, the Mashpee Harbor Master, and the Department of Fire Services drone unit. Agencies evaluated communication procedures, hazard zones, and equipment placement to ensure a quick and orderly response if a leak occurred.
